How can one find peace in a troubled world?
There is one called the Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6) He said,
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)
The Prince of Peace is Jesus Christ. He offers us eternal life and peace when we ask him to forgive our sin and make him Lord of our lives. John 3:16 says,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Sin is what separates us from God, but Jesus paid the penalty for our sin by dying on a cross and rising from the dead. John 3:17-18 says,
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 2:1-2)
However, we have to personally accept the offer of forgiveness, eternal life and peace. We simply ask for forgiveness and place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice on our behalf. 1 John 1:9 states,
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Some believe they can earn their way to heaven by living a good life or doing good. But in Ephesians 2:8-9 it says,
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.”
To answer the question then, how can one find peace in a troubled world? Pray, ask God to forgive your sin and ask Jesus to be your lord and savior. Then receive the eternal life and peace he offers by the grace of God. In Acts 16:31 we read,
“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.”
